The Nature Center, which is situated along the flood plain in the Bosque area adjacent to the Animas River in Farmington, New Mexico, provides the City of Farmington with an economically constructed and operated Center. The building is organized into three major components that step away from the water’s edge. Each zone is represented with a distinct material on both the exterior and interior. The observation room forms the prow of the composition which focuses the viewer north over the prairie toward a constructed lake. This feature directly links the education component of the building with an outdoor environmental classroom.
