Monte del Sol Charter School is a diverse, independent public school serving grades 6-12 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It prides itself on its small enrollment and strong relationships with each student, as well as an extensive arts education, community involvement, technology/sustainability practices and education, and a global perspective.

RMKM developed a Master Plan that strives to acknowledge and complement the existing school Campus, expanding and improving upon the built amenities to better service the Charter School missions, operations and functions. The additions consist of a new, full-sized Gymnasium and Performing Arts Center (including all associated Arts Education and Physical Education facilities), a new Science Lab Wing (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Natural Sciences) and a new Mentorship Center. Renovations to their existing building include Administrative Offices, Wellness Center, Visual Arts Studios, and Virtual Library (Resource Center including Computer Lab).

A large garden area will include an orchard for water retention, an area to serve as an outdoor classroom or meeting place and space meant to be flexible enough for several types of growing. The Science Labs and Mentorship Center wing of the new building are intended to create continuity with the existing building, both from the overall street presence and to aid in forming a new concourse. This concourse will connect to the existing building’s courtyard and serves as the primary circulation system and outdoor student interaction space for the entire campus. The Mentorship Center opens directly into the concourse in two locations.
