The City of Bloomfield Police Headquarters / Municipal Court / MVD has received an AIA New Mexico Citation of Merit


Southwest Capital Bank featured in the Albuquerque Journal

The Southwest Capital Bank, which broke ground on Central Ave this month, was featured in the Albuquerque Journal. The Bank is located on the site of the old Huning Castle Apartments - an exciting addition to the Central corridor. Bob Mallory receives the 2012 AIA Lifetime Achievement Award

At the 2012 AIA Albuquerque Awards banquet, our own Bob Mallory was honored for his lifetime of esteemed service to the architectural community that continues still today.


RMKM to be showcased in an exhibit at the UNM School of Architecture.

The School of Architecture and Planning Alumni Association selected works submitted by UNM Alum to be showcased in an exhibit titled After UNM: Built and Un-Built Work of SA+P Alumni that will run through November. RMKM's UNM Gallup Technology Center and Classroom Building was selected for inclusion.


Breaking Bad films at two buildings designed by RMKM for Season 5.

Because it is filmed in New Mexico, perhaps the best part of watching AMC's Breaking Bad for us locals is recognizing the sites where scenes are filmed. For all you diehard Breaking Bad fans (we include ourselves in that group!) that swanky loft in Houston in Episode 2 was the Rohde Residence designed by RMKM in 2006.  And that police station in Episode 1...was none other than RMKM designed APD's Northwest Area Command, which opened in 2011!


Reviving Tradition

At a lively ceremony, UNM's Alumni Association and President unveiled of the "U" at UNM's Hodgin Hall Alumni Center. Designed by RMKM, the new 12 foot tall cast bronze U will be lit after football victories and for special events, and revives a tradition dating back to the 1920's when a "U" sat on the roof of Hodgin Hall. RMKM Hosts a UNM Architectural Professional Practice Class

As they did last year, Don and Jim gave a tour of the RMKM studio and held an informal lecture/discussion for the graduate level architectural students. In addition to traditional topics like accounting, marketing, and contracts as they relate to the design profession, this year's class included a discussion about how diverse the skill set of an architectural graduate can be, and all of the potential career options there are for graduates aside from traditional roles in architecture firms.


APS Matheson Park Elementary's Celestial Hall Showcased

Albuquerque Art Museum, its addition designed by RMKM, hosts the 2012 APS Education Foundation's "A is for Art" Gala and Auction.

The Gala allows student artists in APS to showcase their work, and proceeds from the auction go to the artists, the Foundation and the APS Fine Arts Department. RMKM will always be an advocate for all arts to be a part of public education, and we are proud that a space we designed was used to celebrate student art!  Click on the image above to view scenes from the event, posted by APSinMotion.


UNM student awarded David Keller Memorial Travel Scholarship

UNM Architectural graduate student Carlos De Anda received the 2012 scholarship to support his travel and research in Italy, France, and Greece this past summer.


Renovations and additions to McKinley County Justice Complex are underway.

"Have never worked with a better firm!" Ruth M. Dygert, Facilities Manager for the State of New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts, said of RMKM. RMKM, in association with LAM Corp, is currently overseeing construction for the complex, due to open summer 2013.


UNM Gallup Technology Center has been certified LEED Gold.


Bob Mallory, AIA and Don P. Shlegel, FAIA celebrate 10 years of leadership at RMKM.

We honored their lifetime contributions to architecture in New Mexico and showed our deep appreciation for the mentorship and leadership they bring to RMKM with a BBQ for them, their families, and the RMKM team.


The Isleta Tribal Services Complex received a Justice Facilities Review Award of Excellence Merit from AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice.

The TSC is the only building in New Mexico to receive this particularly high recognition of judicial and public safety design. Read more at:

Mark and Louvenia presented at this year's School & College Building Expo in Orlando, Florida.

Their presentation consisted of two case studies of key buildings on two uniquely New Mexican campuses:  The Bosque School (6-12) and UNM Gallup Technology Center & Classroom Building (higher ed).  The discussion explored how a highly collaborative programming approach and strong client vision, at both levels of education, challenged the paradigm of both campus' traditional institutional facilities.
