Located directly south the existing City of Gallup Adult Detention Center and directly attached to the existing Magistrate Court, the new McKinley County Justice Complex will house the new Magistrate Courthouse (Phase I) and the Public Defender Programs (Phase II). The need arose for this new facility because the current and projected case loads had exceeded the demands of the community.

Designed to be constructed in two phases, the $10 million facility will include: the construction of new 21,000 square foot, three-story Magistrate Court, secured staff parking, new public parking and extensive site work.

A balance of welcoming authority and dignified massing unites the modified south elevation as one seamless facility.

With the completion of Phase II the facility should function as an integrated “one-stop” justice complex which will enlarge and bring together these related functions into one centralized location which will hopefully satisfy the 15-20 year goals for the Magistrate Court and Public Defender.

Owner: McKinley County
